Hypnobirthing encourages women to completely believe in themselves and trust their body to work, as nature intended, whilst also removing any fears you may have and ensuring you approach your birth calmly and confidently.
It gives your birth partner the confidence and expertise to help and support you. Preparing you both to make any choices along the way, whatever direction your birth experience may take, with as much information as possible to ensure you are fully informed and brighter.
We focus on relaxation, visualisation, massage, physiology and anatomy. Supporting you both, throughout your journey with a complete antenatal program.
Quite literally, “Putting your mind at rest” – There is a lot of apprehension relating to hypnosis. Self-hypnosis is merely a form of deep relaxation / relaxed concentration, you will not be in a trance. You are always in control and will never do anything against your will.
Hypnobirthing works on fear release, the birth partners role, practice and relaxations. The birth partner can play a pivotal role, both in the lead up to birth and throughout it; encouraging better bonding with your baby.
At Brighter Birthing we want to give you the best possible chance to birth your baby in the way you wish; to make informed choices, should any special circumstances arise and ensuring you feel calm, confident and in control when you may need it most.
FAQs
Can you guarantee a pain free birth?
Sadly, we can make no guarantees about your birth, but we can tell you that our course will improve your chance of a gentle, stress-free birth. Hypnobirthing isn’t about pain or feeling no pain, it’s about taking back control and removing fear. That in itself can reduce the amount of pain you feel. Many Hypnobirthing mums say they actually enjoyed their birth.
Should I do this or NCT? Don’t you all cover the same thing?
This is a completely personal choice, some mothers choose to take as many ante-natal courses as possible in order to deepen their knowledge.
The Brighter Birthing course covers all stages of pregnancy and birth. Some of our Brighter Birthing parents have realised when attending another antenatal course that they are already the most prepared in the room and also the most calm.
We have been told it is more thorough than some NCT courses, but this is dependent on your teacher. We also offer a Birthing Basics course, but this is not a Hypnobirthing program. It is completely different to NCT
I’ve been told I have to have a C-section, will your course still be right for me?
Yes, there is no judgement made here about the type of birth you have. Our aim is to ensure you feel comfortable and informed about the options open to you, empowering you to ask questions, so that you can enjoy your pregnancy and approach your birth with excitement and without fear.
It is a common misconception that Hypnobirthing is only for drug-free natural birthing. Hypnobirthing gives you the knowledge and confidence to take control of your birth, however that may be.
Why is Brighter Birthing for me?
At Brighter Birthing we are passionate about all things birth and from the moment you book with us we offer 100% dedication and support to you, in every step of your pregnancy journey. We are committed to giving women the birth they deserve. We can work through any doubts or fears together to ensure you have the best possible birth for you.
My friend just used Hypnobirthing CD’s, wouldn’t that be easier?
Different people learn differently and CD’s can definitely make a difference to your birth. Within our course we use many different methods with visual aids and practical exercises to ensure you completely understand the birthing tools and techniques.
As teachers we are continually reading new research and improving our knowledge with the most up to date evidence and ideas, to ensure the course we offer is the best possible. We cover a lot more information and offer ongoing support throughout your pregnancy.
When should I begin my course?
We recommend beginning your course from week 20, your second trimester. However, we are only too happy to accommodate parents that find us later in their pregnancy. If parents are dedicated to practice, then we are dedicated to improving their birth experience.
Are hypnosis and Hypnobirthing for me? I don’t really buy into ‘alternative therapy’
This is something we are asked constantly, people are scared of not being in control or simply sceptical about it working at all. The self-hypnosis that we teach is simply a form of relaxation, almost like daydreaming. This course is based on a lot of scientific fact, looking at the anatomy and physiology of the birthing body. We won’t be chanting and dancing around the room… unless that’s your thing.
